VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER, EMT & PARAMEDIC

The Franktown Fire Protection District is seeking dedicated, community-minded individuals to serve as Volunteer Firefighters and Emergency Medical Providers. We are looking for neighbors who are ready to answer the call, committed to excellence, and passionate about protecting our community.

Whether you are an experienced EMS pro or someone looking to start your journey in the fire service, we provide the environment and training for you to make a tangible difference.

Service Responsibilities​

  • Emergency Medical Care: Provide life-saving Basic (BLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) care to residents in need.

  • Fire & Rescue Operations: Assist in fire suppression, technical rescue, and hazardous materials response.

  • Operational Readiness: Participate in weekly training, drills, and station maintenance to ensure peak performance.

  • Community Stewardship: Support public education, fire prevention programs, and local community events.

Membership Requirements​

  • Age & Residency: Minimum 18 years of age (21 preferred for certain apparatus operation); U.S. citizenship required.

  • Documentation: Valid Driver’s License and high school diploma (or GED).

  • Clinical Certifications: Valid NREMT or Colorado State certification (EMT or Paramedic). Candidates currently enrolled in certification programs are encouraged to apply.

  • Physical Readiness: Ability to pass the FFPD internal physical agility test and meet medical standards for active duty.

  • Background: Successful completion of a criminal history review and background check.

 

Requirements for our in District Members are:

  • Respond to 20% of calls in their assigned Station area and 25% of all major incidents in the FFPD area.

  • Attend one Company Training per month and one EMS continuing education training per month.

 

Requirements for our out of District Members are:

  • Work 36 hours per month on a scheduled basis.

  • Attend one Company Training per month and one EMS continuing education training per month.

Preferred Qualifications​

  • Colorado Firefighter I/II

  • Hazardous Materials Operations Certification

  • Wildland S-130/S-190 Certification

  • Partial or Full Tuition Reimbursement: EMT - Basic, IV Therapy, Basic EKG interpretation and EMT - Paramedic.​​

  1. Complete an application.

  2. Enclose all required documentation (applications will not be reviewed until all documentation is received).

  3. Application review.

  4. Schedule Ride-along. 

  5. Panel Interview.
